The feeling of releasing an Album

I posted blogs before on “my journey of writing and releasing an album” and I was gobsmacked at the response I got. Receiving messages saying how it has inspired people to create and to “break the cycle” is beyond what I imagined. My deepest thanks to everyone and I have decided to keep blogging.

Now with MASK’s debut EP “The Truth” released - I feel like I have turned a page. To go from the creative process to having/holding the end product is a feeling of such immense pride. By comparison it feels like the TV show “Grand Designs” - you have the toil and hard work but the end result makes it all worthwhile.

First of all - I’m proud of the songs! Last night just with an acoustic guitar I got to play a couple of songs from the EP in public and it honestly felt like shaking hands with an old friend. They are songs I have come to love and each one tells a different story, some that may surprise you! (More to follow on that…)

What I’m most proud of is the hard work everyone put in. Although people may only hear so many minutes of music, no-one will ever really know the amount of hard work that was put into this. For myself;

I have put together an incredible team in all aspects from producing to PR - but this was only through trial and tribulation! (message me if you want any recommendations)

Dissecting and researching chord structures and musical theory ate up month’s of my life! Sometimes I just wouldn’t go to bed, I’d literally watch the sun come up trying to find the right lyric or riff and then probably not use it in the end…

I never sang a note in my life before May 2016 (I was convinced I was “tone-deaf”) so I went to singing lessons and would sit awkwardly in the waiting area of a singing school with the little girls in their frozen dresses. I still get singing lessons to this day, I’m definitely not a natural singer and I find it incredibly challenging.

All in all - there is never a substitute for hard work and we as a group are truly proud and humbled.

This is obviously an exciting time for the band. The first single to be released of the EP is called “Wink and the Gun” and the video will be out very shortly!

P.S. Any questions for the group we are starting the hashtag #askMASK (Genius or what?!)
