One year ago, I ate enough cough drops to kill a small elephant.
A week before we filmed our live performance at Penkun Castle, Karalina and I decided to do the sensible thing and escape to Turkey for a few days. The idea was to come back refreshed, relaxed, and perhaps with a healthy glow for the cameras…
Turkey, however, had other plans.
It was freakishly cold. So cold, in fact, that we spent one evening of our holiday shopping for radiators.
Then, inevitably, I got sick.
With the recording fast approaching, I genuinely didn't think my voice would last the day, let alone sound the way it should. Armed with an alarming quantity of cough drops and sheer determination, I somehow made it through.
And thank goodness I did.
Looking back now, I honestly believe it became one of the best live recordings we've ever produced. There was something special about that moment. Perhaps it was the pressure, the beautiful setting, or simply the magic that can happen when everything feels as though it's about to fall apart.
Karalina had completely deconstructed and rebuilt her solo in the days leading up to the performance, and what she delivered was extraordinary. I remember thinking exactly what everyone else in the room must have been thinking: wow. I was absolutely blown away.
And as if that wasn't enough excitement for one day, we packed up afterwards and raced off to play another concert!
Now, almost exactly one year later, we're returning to Penkun.
In two weeks' time, we'll be performing a special duo acoustic concert at the newly built KaiserHof Hotel. The concert is completely free, and we'd love for you to join us.
Last year gave us memories we'll never forget. In two weeks, we'll make some new ones.
We can't wait to see you there.
